In 1971 I was fresh out of the Navy and bought a Ruger Single Action Convertible revolver on a lark. Got some ammo at the same time and I think it cost about 50-55 cents per 50 rd box. I paid the princely sum of $65 for the Ruger. Still have it so it must have been meant for me! I wandered into an old gun store that was going out of business and bought a couple of bricks of 22 magnum rimfire for $7.50 a brick! That will never happen again!
