Vash,
I shot competitive small bore in the 70s. Through the Pomona Elks Junior rifle club a brick of practice ammunition (T-22 or Green Tag) was $8.00 and Eley Tenex was $35.00. Needless to say I only shot the Tenex in matches and to confirm zeros.
2994 back from Iraq and on recommendation from Precision Shooting folks I ordered 100 cases on Aguila SE at about $96.00 each and 100 cases of Wolf match (German) for $142.00 each. Just before the Obama spike I hit up the local Wal-Marts and cleared them both out Federal automatch (a plinking round) for around $70.00 a case (4,000/case). The latter is what was used for plinking and when “friends” needed ammo.
