Mom made me cut my own switches. Dad just used his belt. At school they had paddles with holes except for one principal, He used a length of garden hose. Garden hose was pretty tough for grade school. Never heard of him actually using it, think it was mainly for threats.

Hope your Dad can beat it. My nephew that mows my yard went thru that. The chemo was horrible. Took him a year of treatments. He is doing well now, his hair is growing back in, and started mowing my yard again. His parents let him get a puppy to be with him. He is training the puppy to be a therapy dog.
