When Bro Bob was here this weekend he made the comment that he gets over 400 spam messages a day to his Yahoo email account. And asked me what I charge for email accounts on my server.

Asked him if he just deletes spam messages or clicks on the button to report them as spam. He said he just deletes them. Said sometimes uses the unsubscribe link in the spam messages.

Asked him if he had his name and email entered in the autofill part of his web browser. He said yes.

Told him that first he needs to delete all the auto-fill entries in his web browser so he has to always manually enter his name and email into web sites that he specifically wants information from. That any web site can get his information from the auto-fill in his browser in the background without him knowing it. They can then give or sell his info to spammers.

Then told him that ANY email he receives that is not from a friend or family and he did not specifically ask for to use the link in his email client to report it as spam. Says he often gets things he likes. Told him, don't care, if he didn't ask for it, it is spam, report it.

And lastly Never click on any links or open files in unsolicited emails, Never. And those links include links to unsubscribe. That if he is interested in a product or information that is in an unsolicited email, use Google and search for the product or information instead of clicking any links in the spam.

Told him that until he starts doing those things I would never offer him an email account on my server at any price. That his current practices not only get him more spam but would also draw unwanted spam to other users on my mail server's domain.
