Normal intercoolers enjoy the fresh air pulled by the fan through the decklid grill. Even then, they get pretty hot unless the car is moving.

I thought about that too. I think that high-speed computer-type fans under the I/Cs would help; but the airflow is still all wrong... the engine fan is going to draw more of the cool air thru the grille.
