Here's a picture of how mine is; attaches to the filter side and is far enough down the fill tube that the cap wouldn't block it the other tube going to the oil tank is the crankcase vent. Not sure what year and possibly it might be different for ROW, but for my '77 the cap test is not valid- chased my tail on that for awhile!
