If I were shopping Mustang/Camero I would opt for the 300HP V6.
But then again all a matter of taste, I'm sure many here lust after the 800HP tire destroyers that are now available.

When I drive around Charlotte, I really want more horse power, helps me avoid clusters and bad situations to be able to snap from driving peacefully in the slow lane at 55, to whatever the left lane is doing in less than two seconds.
Driving out in the country, my 290HP is all I need/want. A 45MPH speed limit, and a single lane to drive in doesn't give a lot of need for power.
It is really a matter of where and how you drive. I like to drive easy, leave space, maintain momentum, and stay to the right unless passing. When I'm on a busy multi lane road and someone cuts in front in my space and hits the brakes to make a turn, without horse power I'm stuck, with horse power I can blast into the space they just left and reach the speed of that lane.
