If you or one of the grandkids go into the menu part of the TV it has a "video" selection and you (or them) can adjust the strength of the picture such as Dynamic, Standard, Natural, Relax, Movie, Entertain. These are for how hard the TV works the screen for various types of inputs. The picture also depends on what you have for an input such as Cable, Uverse, ETC as they will show the same items differently.

Remember TV sets in a store are setup to counter the effects of those overhead lights.
