I'd highly recommend you get the Geek Squad to come out and dial in your picture for you.
My wife and daughter got that service when they surprised me with a new Sony 52" a number of years ago. Prior to the dialing in, I couldn't stand watching it. Everything looked like a soap opera. Football stadiums looked REALLY green too.
After they came and dialed in the picture all has been good.
I run my tv thru the stereo too. Wife hates it because of the surround sound system but it's great for movies. I can shake the house down if I'm not careful.
