It was back in the 1980s at a War Bonnet Tech event. We had Hans Metzger as our featured speaker that year. After the dinner some of the staff for the event and Hans went to the hotel bar. Every other guy on the event staff was married and they had one drink and went back to their room to be with their wife. I was single so Hans and I got to swapping stories with me mostly asking questions. We drank the bar dry of St Pauli girl beer. I learned one lesson for sure. Do not try to keep up with a German when drinking beer.

I had to stagger back to my hotel room and he was fine.

At the Charlotte Porsche Parade Norbert Singer was a guest. I ate dinner with he and his wife. My wife stayed behind for that Parade so it was just the three of us at a small table.

In the movies and many TV shows a main character goes into a small neighborhood bar and has a drink and chats with a bar tender or the bar owner. I have never in my life done that. To just go to a bar and buy drinks is not in my play book.
