What they are saying is the sharpness, contrast,and color can be turned up too far making the picture unrealistic. Especially on the newer higher resolution TVs.
Always have TV sound going thru the stereo for surround sound. Nobody except for me can turn it off!
If I were going to setup headphones I would do it using the A B settings of my stereo and use bluetooth to run the headphones. That way could could listen to A speakers, B headphones, or Both. And bluetooth headphones typically have their own volume controls.
My TV is a 6 year old Sony Bravia smart TV. All of the smart tv functions have quit working and Sony no longer supports them. *#$^!!@@!
