That metal strip wears down so eventually you get these horrible lines usually down the center of the row or maybe slightly to the left of center if your right-handed and to the right if your left-handed due to unequal downward pressures.

To counter this you must alternate handedness not with alternating passes but with every second pass because you're pushing in opposite directions with each pass. This way though the strip eventually wears down at least its TDC.

When they laid down the asphalt on my driveway (when I wasn't home) as a bonus they put little curbs on the edges thinking it would direct rain run-off. Well thank you but, and I quote:

"Did I ask for curbs? Noooo. Now I can't blow snow right to the edge of the driveway!"

Another trick is to knock off the slush bunnies before pulling into the garage because they're usually infested with salt so they melt and help get rid of tire tracks next time you shovel...
