You didn't miss anything, John!
During the first Persian Gulf conflict I was the Airboss on the USS La Salle, the command ship for Commander Middle East Forces.
I had a 45 man department. When the Tenders were in port at Mina Sulman in Manama, it was the wild west. I had to restrict guys to the ship there were so many fights, often over the same young lady, over and over.
In the government bureaucracies I worked in the amount of hooking up that went on was Onion-esque...rampant from the top down.
