Most of the things I was taught (when growing up) that a gentleman does as a matter of habit can be construed as sexual harassment now. I do treat women differently than men (other than performance expectations at work). I stand when a lady comes into the room, offer my seat or chair if there are none, hold the door, offer to carry any heavy object, pay for the meal or coffee, offer my coat if cold, etc.. If there is a dirty or physically strenuous task to be accomplished, I offer to help. I do exactly the same for my daughter and wife.

If is see a woman that I have not seen in a while. I usually say "you look great! I never mention if they have gained weight or look older...but often comment if otherwise. If they look particularly nice or have made a significant change (new outfit, shoes, hairdo), I always notice and compliment them. I generally do the same for men.

Women do seem to genuinely appreciate being treated like a woman (as men did when I was younger). I have overheard them comment on my behavior positively. I do not intend to change, but also have always avoided being alone with women (outside of family) since I was married. As far as I am concerned, I have never harassed a woman...but, if I were in a position where someone might gain by attacking me, I don't know if my behavior would come back to haunt me or not. I am probably safe because I probably don't have anything that anyone wants.
