Outward indication of Discretionary Income. Status symbol. Women use things like that as signs of mate potential. Don't buy a vehicle that appeals to guys unless that is the way you swing. Women see Mercedes (maybe BMW). Everything is just "a car". Don't even think about pickup trucks unless you are lesbian. Lesbians have a thing for F-150's.
ETA: Anecdotal story... I have a retro Thunderbird. SOME women have a thing for Thunderbirds - guys do not. (Russian gf is one of those women.) Women driving Escalades smile and talk to me at red lights. I do not know why this is. My car is neither expensive or fast. Women say it is "sexy", whatever that means. My DD is a twenty-five year old K1500 Suburban. Owned since it was new. It's me.
