I nearly lost my son when he was only 1 year old. This doesn't compare but a simple ear infection that was mis-treated became a raging infection that required hospitalization . His fever soared to 104 and needless to say we were terrified, especially since meningitis was a spectre lurking nearby. The doctors put him on IV Pen K, maybe G I don't remember but it was hundreds of milligrams. We stayed by his side night and day. The wife slept at the hospital since I had to work nights in order to keep my job. After 14 days he came home. Every day with my boy after that was like another birthday.

You just keep on having those new birthdays Elissa. When you're older maybe your Dad can tell you of the love you'd received from people that neither you nor he ever met.
