i went backpacking trout fishing with my wife.

the pressure to make sure we had everything was great. this was my wife's first foray into the California Sierra Nevadas. her first backpacking trip ever i kept her pack light, and carried the king's share of the gear. it was a good workout and i got to test out a new pack. (Mystery Ranch Metcalf)

at the trail head, i realized i may have forgotten a knife. haha. (Who would have thunk it?) i grabbed my truck backup..the Leatherman Fuse. i got the thing free when Leatherman sent a case of them to the SWAT team. (they hated them, i think because they were not black)

DAMN IT if i dont love that thing! i was pulling fish hooks out of trout with the pliers, cutting 2lb line with the scissors, and that knife is a razor..it would zip open fish with ease. i caught my first Cutthroat on that trip!!

ended up, i didnt forget a knife. i had a folder in the pack..but i never pulled it out. that leatherman was MVP. i was using it to pick up hot pots of crayfish. and cracking crayfish claws with it. not worth it for the tiny bit of meat.

now i want a new one. the Leatherman Charge Tii..i was shocked at the cost. $169!! maybe later.

any multitool guys here? i wouldnt EDC one..too bulky.
