I'm on a cattle ranch, I carry one of the less expensive Leatherman Wingman's. Pretty much use it every day in one fashion or another. It's important enough to me I bought a second one to put in the safe so I always have a extra. I recycled all my older multitools into all of my rigs and boats. Gerbers, SOG's. But always liked the newer Leatherman's best. The first gen not so much.
My ranch pocket knife is a Ontario Rat Model 1 with AUS 8 steel. So far in all my years with knives this has proved to be the very best for ranch work. Not so expensive if I loose it I don't flip out, but its darn good quality considering. Not to big not too small but just right. I also keep a extra one of those in the safe.
My Father has always carried one of the smaller ViceGrip pliers in a hand made, quick-draw sheath on his belt. Tried to get him to switch but no joy. Old dogs ect..-WW
