sounds like you done good.
my kids have outgrown their bikes and are both getting new this Christmas. in both cases they will be on the bike for some time so I didn't mind spending a bit more.
for the 8 yr old who is apparently on the cusp of going from 20" to 24" bikes I was struck at how better scaled the good brand bikes are in that size. if you look at 24" at walmart or toys r us you see gigantic bikes that an 8 yr old couldn't ride. then you hit a local shop with Giant, Trek, etc. and you find out 24" is entirely possible with the right frame. found a great local shop that puts effort into kids bikes so they got my money.
getting bikes for kids.....something special and fun about that!!!!

Well i had #6 adjusted perfectly but then just before i tightened it a butterfly in Zimbabwe farted and now i have to start all over again!
I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.
