The point of piston offset is to have the piston pressing less on the liner and more on the connecting rod during the power stroke. With a little offset to the piston pin bore, the piston will tend to straighten in the bore when going downward on the power stroke. All the pistons are the same (no left side and right side). So, if you think about it, the wavy line accomplishes this objective perfectly for both banks.

The only thing I can think of is it is a future reference mark if you pull the pistons , so they go back the same way?
