If you still like the bike, I'd do an ABSectomy. I've done two ('04s) and they're pretty easy - lot's of DIY help on the forum. Total cost would be for a set of new lines from Galfer or Spiegler for a couple hundred dollars.

Ditto. I performed the "surgery" on my '02 many years ago and am very pleased for a number of reasons. As tic suggests, you should remove the ABS indicator bulb (and the small
blue relay in the right side relay/fuse pod) and all will work just fine.
If your energetic and can weld aluminum, you can take advantage of the additional space the ABS pump occupied and enlarge the stock aluminum tank at the same time. I fabbed a tank "extension" and my new capacity is about 6.3 gallons. I posted the process

but I fear the photos are no longer visible as I have not renewed my Photobucket account...which used to be free! Is the "cloud" a free solution when I get a new smart phone? (sorry for the off-topic question. A PM would be greatly appreciated.)
