Stigma? I really do not see it. You will be building a car indistinguishable in performance than the way it looks, nothing fake or pretending about.
Build the 912/6 you are almost there and a SWB 911 are a hoot.
A 912 is a ton of fun but not as tail happy, that is a plus and a minus, 912's are lighter so you will miss that. But a 911 engine is smooth, revs easier and higher, takes the heat better when flogged hard.
In a perfect world you would have both, 911 and a 912 but you already have a Fulvia for hard, toss able city driving now build that SWB 911 for the road trips.
