Having a science background I go with quantifiable stats from object experts without the proverbial dog in the fight and not the testimonials of self appointed experts or exceptions to the rule, no matter how compelling. I have met sweet pits and one who grew up in a loving family that was so aggressive toward strangers they had to get rid of it. Also had a wonderful German Shepard but have met others that even though they were raised by good families had an aggressive temperament. On the other hand, have not met too many hostile golden retrievers or black labs.

The Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association conducted a twenty year study on the most dangerous dog breeds based on the number of fatalities they have caused:

5. Wolf-dog hybrids
4. Huskies
3. German Shepard’s
2. Rottweilers
1. Pit Bulls
