How many times did Washington escape because the British thought they couldn't lose ? If American History was just a story, you would expect the English to do better. I think Hitler was an even better example of a guy who repeatedly threw away moments where he could have won it all - mostly because he thought he already had it in the bag.
Dunkirk would have been such a time where he delayed and failed to advance decisively. When you add to that several days of poor visibility, providence seems to be working in the favor of those willing and desperate enough to make the bold move.
All we have to do is run them down and wait. Seems simple enough, get out the champagne.
