I was stuck in stop-go traffic in November and my low oil pressure warning and gauge went to zero. The engine sounded fine so I thought it was a sender issue. If I left the engine idle at 1000 rpm I would have oil pressure.
The cause was a broken main bearing. I was lucky no other damage to the engine.
I had the bearings, and rings replaced. The crank was polished.
Any idea what would cause a bearing to break?
The car is a Z06 with an LS7 engine.
