Too funny. I had a Ti cage I cut down and installed the same way in the 914. And I had to cut and drill out the bracket to fit, but none of it was done for lightness, just making it fit. My mechanic friend had a fit when he saw it and said, “Can’t anybody just drive a car anymore?” I replied, driving 5+ hours on I-5 with a cold beverage between my legs gets old real fast. He saw my point.
