You are correct that there are a ton of posts on doing 3.0 --> 3.2 or 3.2 --> 3.4 engines via the 95mm to 98mm bore increase. The 3.0 --> 3.2 is called short stroke simply because you've got a 3.2 engine that arrived at such a displacement by its bore increase and maintaining its shorter 70.4mm crankshaft stroke. Compare that to the later 3.2 Carrera engine that gets its displacement via the same 95mm bore diameter as the 3.0 SC and uses the longer 74.4mm stroke crankshaft from the 3.3L turbo

The other reason I mention the 3.2 --> 3.4 is because the same approach for that engine "upgrade." Which is the typical bore increase to 98mm, as well as often changing the cam profile as well. 964 profile seems to be the most popular choice.
