Is this true for the mid-range, or just the top-end? I would think the varioram intake would help with fattening up the middle compared to a static intake length.

I have no experience on these engines with variable intake length, but in my old 4.2l S6 engine making the variable intake work correctly greatly helped the area under the curve in the mid-range (buttdyno tested).
