Now there ya go, you just had to set me off didn't you? If you had to start fabricating parts for a Toyota PU on a one off basis you would soon have a 3M Toyota PU. Your statement really highlights your ignorance. You don't realize that a Toyota PU is so cheap because it is a product of the Global economy of scale, where they produce millions of em. That brings the unit cost way down so that the average guy can afford one. Now start to think what your cost of living would be if most things that you use were
not mass produced. You simply could NOT AFFORD it..
So my query has been if a crisis hits and a Global depression sets in and parts mfg go out of biz...fairly soon the on hand parts supply would dry up and you would have to start to make do...as in CUBA or the car would be sitting by the side of the road as parts are unobtainable. So those are the ramifications at all levels of modern life of a failure..
We all have become COMPLACENT and take for granted (as being normal) the luxurious life style that we enjoy especially in the USA.
