Yes, and your credit line is tied up for weeks while they "investigate" it. Happened to me right as I was moving. Sucked and added a lot of extra stress I didn't need. As it turns out I didn't need the extra credit line available but at the time you never know whether you might for something unforeseen, plus the replacement card showed up only a couple of days before I left. That wasn't fun waiting around for it and made me second guess my decision to have it sent there rather than to the new address.

There are so many exploits and vulnerabilities these days it's not a problem that's going away anytime soon. The fact that all these corporations are freely sharing anything and everything they can dredge up about you (including CC #s I'm sure) doesn't help. My new cards allow me to keep them locked to all purchases which is a good solution - I just unlock it using a smartphone app right before I use it, then lock it again immediately afterwards. Doesn't work in all situations, but most.
