Reachme, design freedom? where do you get that idea?
All cars need to adhere to crash safety, pedestrian safety, have a good Aero for low mileage.
Those 3 things already limit the design immensely..
No edges like the 80ies,
forget about short cars with little overhang up front because they need a lot of room for the plastic to move if a pedestrian hits it.
And Aero rules, well, you can't make a fuel economic car shaped creatively, the wind tunnel rules these days.
