I got paid cash monies when I was that age. Waxed cars, mowed yards, and did electronic assembly, even grew and sold okra. It was all cash or personal checks. Learned quickly could cash the personal checks at my local grocery store. Kept the money off radar. Don't know if grocery stores would do that now. The grocery store bought my okra and resold it too.

First big thing got with my own money was a 10 speed bike. $215 was a lot of $2 lawns, $1 bags of okra, and $8 wax jobs.
