As much as I love animals (and I do think dogs are cool) this sort of stuff grosses me out. Dogs in particular are inherently scavengers and pretty filthy animals - they will roll in dirt, eat poop, garbage, carrion, you-name-it. I had a gf that used to let her TWO (because one wasn’t enough, apparently) gigantic greyhounds sleep in her bed. These dogs were sweet but no exception to the above - regularly eating whatever disgusting stuff they happened across. Umm... no. I refused to sleep in that bed myself (sorry, I don’t want my head on a pillow that’s had dead / poopy / garbage-y slobber drooled on it). Needless to say that kinda cramped the relationship a bit.

I like dogs but they’re pretty disgusting creatures at their core. Some are better than others. At least my cats will only eat what they catch - that’s pretty nasty enough and it doesn’t really happen too much anymore since they’re strictly indoor animals and kept well-fed (although one did catch a little lizard the other day).
