Garage
We have Dachshunds. They love to hunt critters. Our current male is a decent mouser. He will alert me to a new invasion of mice in the back yard. He has caught a few mice. One was gone it way under 60 seconds. One mouse was chewed and dead, but still in his mouth. We "tricked" him into putting it down for a treat. I grabbed the carcass and flushed it.

When he is on the hunt for mice, I put out traps to kill em all ASAP. I keep mouse traps set in the garage in places the dogs can't get to if they get out to the garage.

I figure dogs have been eating small critters for hundreds of thousands of years and the wolf, that dogs are descended from have eaten small and large critters for millions of years. Our dogs have their rabies and other shots. We don't encourage a diet of critters, but I don't worry one iota about it.
