It is fact that service members that were referred for PTSD screening, reservists getting a VA of 0% while passing multiple 1st Class medicals, and others with the official minimum of 30% all have been denied and even have had firearms removed/confiscated for a protective measure. All from the PTSD referrals from either the DoD or VA as mental problems, yours nuts.
You write as either USA or USAF and I assumed you would remember the news issues with how they treated for malaria pre-deployment, while deployed, and post deployment. I’ll take the hit on assuming you were a career officer in wither of those services and would be familiar with the issues.
Basic tenant of the USMC is everyone has someone junior except the most junior Pvt. Seniors are required to council a junior, both formally (Pro/Cons or Fitreps) and informally with documenting in your Plt. Sgt. or Plt. Commander notebook as appropriate. To the best of my knowledge all the services require at least formal evaluation and are required to provide counselling.

For quite a while there was no mechanism to be removed from the no-fly list. Tougher when service members are coming and going then trying to take leave when they are able. Restricting rights and placing military teams on the no-fly lists for flying to certain countries under orders with tickets paid for the military without investigating is unacceptable to me; guilty until proven innocent. We have different standards as to the oath we have taken and administered thousands of times.
