I just don't like turbo petrol cars
they sound like **** compared to a high strung NA engine.
From your forum name, i gather you do like turbo. that's fine.
But the fact remains that most people can't handle 350 horses
They don't need 350 horses
Turbo's do not sound as refined as a NA flat 6 at 7000 rpm....
This change has nothing to do with fun, power or excitement, it has to do with emissions
I'll take 250 horses
a lighter chassis
no lag,
great sound
All day long.
You do realize that these low pressure turbo's are only there because of regulatory emission testing, right?
So what is so wrong at the suggestion that I would prefer it if they got one out that compromises some horsepower in favor of a better experience?
They can get those emissions down just as easy without the turbo.. just a bit less power.. but no; that's a marketing issue
everything has to be bigger and more powerful at each generation.
a turbo in this context is not the superlative people think it is.
It's just more bland.
Next time, they'll introduce mandatory hybride power.
They'll down scale the engine like in the Cayman
and replace some cyllinders with batteries
Flat 4 doing 200 bhp
200 from the batteries
You'll still have more horses at the wheels
you'll still have some kind of turbo for that little flat 4 engine
But it will be bland.
it will sound like sjit
Treehuggers will rejoice
I won't.
the Next gen will be a Flat 2 with a little turbo on it.
basically it will be a little petrol engine to extend the autonomy of the Porschitesla past the city limits of your home town.
100 horses from petrol sounding like brrrrrrrrrrr, flatline and monotomous
with the remaining 350 horses sounding like zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
But you'll have those 450 horses, woop ti doo.
after that you'll have your 911 E, where E used to stand proud for Einspritzung, that E will be for Eeeuhletric.
