This certainly is true for Buddhism. What I found so attractive about it was that Buddha himself stressed that it was very important for people to
not believe him. To believe him would be mean that you were taking it on faith, and he didn't want you to have faith, he wanted you to take action. Follow his instructions, and make it happen for yourself. Its an instruction manual, not a faith.
