Glen, golf may be less expensive than racing, flying et al, but is isn't nearly as fun IMHO. I understand some people think knocking steel targets off and going to pick them up again is not fun either.

It depends on HOW you play golf. One of my buddies retired when the company he worked for told him IF he took a retirement package they would pay him more money every month than his current paycheck, and he did not have to come to work anymore. He contemplated that for about 2 microseconds.
He loved golf. He wanted to play all the top courses. He bought a set of clubs that were mega expensive. Then he tried to wrangle guest memberships at major courses. He paid a ton of money to go play Pebble Beach. He had fun trying to spend the money he was making in retirement. He admitted he could have bought a new Ferrari for what he spent playing golf. He preferred golf.
