Golly what fun that was.

Step one, go get the pickup, drive down to Norman, OK for the free compost. Well OK, we paid $10 for the free loading. And the guy running the loader was not the old pro that did it last time. He dumped in a giant mound that was taller than the cab of the pickup. Now we I am talking about a full size F150 1/2 ton pickup with the full size 4x8 foot bed. So step two, push a 1/4 ton or more off the pile onto the ground and out of the truck. Phew.

Step three is tie down the tarp and head the 35 miles home. Then we untie the tarp, and I am real glad no boy scouts or sailors were there to see the knots we used, and the method we used for securing the tarp. It worked so screw em all.

Then start shoveling.

As you can see my driveway is very sticky. These are the oversize rejects.

They call it compost but it is closer to mulch this year. The city of Norman takes resident's yard waste. Big limbs get run through the chipper. Smaller limbs and bushes just get run over with the dozer and broken up a lot. Then they let them compost for a few years along with grass clippings and likely some manure.

Shoveling it is difficult because all the sticks are interlocked. As you try to shovel the shovel stops because there is a stick in the way.

In the end it works great as mulch-compost and Mrs. Carrera will be spreading it around in all the flower beds. I will be digging holes I am sure.
