"He said that a week ago a lady pulled out in front of him and he rear-ended her at a very slow speed. The front bumper went under her rear bumper and scratched the front edge of the hood. I can't immediately see any additional damage."
This is what worries me. A LOT can happen at very slow speeds to these cars - a lot can get bent up under there.
