I believe after the first Tesla underbody was punctured they made it thicker. This is basically a sheet of armour grade steel that runs the length of the vehicle further increasing its tank like weight.
Thing is, as the saying goes, the mountain always wins. Meaning you can’t control all variables in a crash and even if they made it an inch thick it could still be compromised.
