My brother-in-law begged his dad to let him take a spin in his then-new Elise a while back and my bro-in-law ended up crashing it into a ditch. My father-in-law lives in the French countryside and whenever we're all there for Christmas and the the sun peaks out for a brief moment, it's always awkward to see my father-in-law toss my wife the keys and tell us to "go enjoy the weather before it starts raining again."
To be fair, my wife used to be the marketing director for a dealer group that owns all the exotic franchises so she's driven everything from regular 911s to a Pagani Huayra and has a lot of seat time in all the new Mclaren products since the 12C. It's still so emasculating to see my bro-in-law in that situation.
