I have suffered one acquaintance that fabricated the most elaborate tales ONCE he heard something that you were interested in. Then he would take over and it became a one way recital that buried in magnitude whatever it was that you were interested in. It was one-upsmanship to the extreme. However, it was all benign horse puckey. No harm except pissing away your time.
Vash's friend's invitation to the lake house crosses that line. I have not experienced that.
