Yes indeed, .357 mag out of a heavy N frame M27 with a 6" bbl is plenty of recoil....you'll change those beautiful checkered wood grips for rubber Pachmayr grips if'n you do much of that or have a raw hand. At least my M629 (.44 mag) has beautiful SMOOTH grips....doesn't help much
