It shows us that with the weakness of the dollar we are seeing lots of these cars being bought to ship and sell overseas. It also shows us for those that have their heart set on an ‘89 turbo for the 5 speed, that you better get one bought soon, before the import duties for those too become much less or even exempt.
If the ‘87 was the cab and the ‘89 the coupe, the prices would’ve been reverse. At least in terms of this auction at this moment in time. It was all year specific, the hammer price had much less to do with the specifics of the car than the import duties one of the final two bidders had to incur had he won, which was only year based.
