I've read that Alpine quality has gone downhill in recent years, back in the day when I used to install big stereo systems they were the big thing. I've had multiple Kenwoods and always had good luck. My boat has the original Kenwood HU from 2009 and it still works great, which was a surprise.
Crutchfield is a great company, and they do a good job of providing instructions and everything you need for install.
