Not sure what your idea of small lakes is but hard to beat a cheap 12 ' - 14 ' aluminum vee hull . For one thing they are relatively stable and you can stand up , stretch and move around a little . Can be propelled by oars , electric trolling motor or small gas outboard . They are a dime a dozen on CL .
