If you need wood glue and only wood glue, plain white Elmer's is as good as anything else. You're wasting your money buying more expensive wood glue.

The difference comes if the wood is exposed to moisture. Elmer's is water soluble and remains soluble after it dries. If your application is never going to get wet, then Elmer's is the way to go. If it will be exposed to moisture, you need something else. In a bathroom Elmer's would probably last long enough to make it to your remodel, but I think you did the right thing in getting something that doesn't deteriorate when it gets wet.
