Hi guys -
Just a brief hello to re-introduce myself... After an absence of about oh, 25 years, I've made my way back to Toronto with my 1980 911SC, 'Brian'.
Bought Brian in Cleveland sight unseen while I was living in LA in 2008 - flew to Ohio and drove him across the country without incident - what a great start! My (Aussie) wife and I moved to Sydney, Australia less than a year later, and took him with us. A left-hooker in a RHD world was a bit of a curiosity (especially when going in and out of parking garages - I had to get one of those grabby grabby things old people use to pick stuff up off the ground to reach through the passenger window to get the parking ticket!)
We thought we'd be in Sydney for a couple of years, and we spent... nine. The best part of living in Australia (from a classic Porsche point of view, anyway) was being able to drive the car all year round. The worst part was the constant salt in the air from the ocean (we lived about 100m from the ocean). Actually the worst part was getting run over by a cement truck who didn't see me next to him at an intersection. That led to about a 12-month restoration/repaint project which I (mostly!) completed just before deciding to move back here last year (I still have a small box of parts which either need to go on or I don't remember what they are...)
Anyway we've just moved in to a townhouse in Leslieville, and looking forward to getting Brian out on the road in another couple of weeks. I did have him out earlier in March, but apparently... that wasn't actually spring. I'd sorta forgotten what winters in Ontario are like. Aren't they wonderful? I love them.
Looking forward to meeting those of you who are local and chatting with those who aren't.
cheers
Al
