e90 Overheated, threw fan code
I have a 2007 328xi with just under 64k miles on the odometer.
I was in bumper to bumper traffic on the highway last week and I got the dreaded yellow->red overheating signals, followed by limp-mode. I pulled the car over and got it towed back to my place. I checked the codes and found only one, and it had happened at the time of the overheating: 2EFE, e-fan, control. So far, to diagnose I have: -Tried to turn the fan on with INPA. -Cleared the code, then ran the car in my driveway up to 95C/203F (stopping because I was afraid of overheating again), then checked the codes again. 2EFE was back as the only code. -Ran the car with the A/C on. A/C got cold quickly, but the fan never turned on. -Tried to re-seat the plug on the fan. So, I'm curious what I should check next? Am I correct in assuming that since the code is 2EFE that the car is trying to turn the fan on? Instead of it being a temp sensor, where the car isn't turning it on because it doesn't think it has to? |
